Oropouche, Trinidad and Tobago – The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) on Sunday evening, responded to alarming reports from the public regarding suspected military warheads discovered at Mosquito Creek.
Around 7 PM, officers from the Southern and South Western Divisions, along with the Coastal and Air Support Unit, led by ACP Wayne Mystar, arrived at the scene near the Godineau Bridge. There, they found several cylindrical projectiles among the rocks on the banks of the Godineau River, raising concerns about potential military munitions.
To ensure public safety, a team of specialists from the TTPS Explosive Detection and Disposal Unit, commonly known as the Bomb Squad, was dispatched to the location.
With the assistance of international partners, the team conducted a thorough examination of the items, ultimately confirming that they were not military explosives but rather parts of Concrete Piercing Tools used in the construction industry.
However, key components necessary for the tools’ operation were missing. In light of this, the police seized the items and removed them from the site as a precautionary measure.
The TTPS is continuing its investigation into the incident and expresses gratitude to the vigilant members of the public who reported the suspicious findings. Authorities encourage residents to remain alert and continue cooperating with law enforcement to promote safer neighborhoods and communities.
