THREE firearms were found and a quantity of ammunition seized during exercises earlier this week.
Reports are that officers attached to the North Eastern Division Task Force conducted an exercise in the Morvant area on Tuesday during which, the officers observed three men behaving in a suspicious manner.
When approached by the officers, the men fled and a chase ensued. An object fell while the suspect was running. A pistol fitted with a magazine, along with 17 rounds of ammunition. was found.
Officers observed a blue-coloured Nissan Sylphy with a visibly tampered ignition. Upon making checks the vehicle was discovered to be stolen from Trincity Mall the previous day.
In the Port of Spain Division, officers of the Area West Port of Spain Task Force conducted an Operation Blue Line exercise between the hours of 4 pm and 8 pm also on Tuesday.
During the exercise the officers responded to a report of a robbery in the vicinity of Ellerslie Plaza. While chasing the suspect tossed an object.
And in Sangre Grande, a 39-year-old unemployed man, who was allegedly held with a revolver and a quantity of ammunition on Wednesday during Operation Blue Line exercises in the Sangre Grande district, has been arrested.
The suspect, who resides in Sangre Grande, was arrested by officers attached to the Eastern Division Task Force (EDTF), who were conducting several raids of drug blocks and areas known for criminal activities.
According to police reports, during one of the exercises which were conducted during the period 4 am and 8 am, EDTF officers executed a search warrant at the North Oropouche Road home of the suspect where they allegedly found a Trooper MK III 357 Magnum revolver and six rounds of .38 spl ammunition.
The man was immediately arrested in connection with the find. That operation was coordinated by Sgt Bhim and supervised by PC Hosein.
PC Verasammy of the EDTF is continuing investigations.
