KINGSTOWN – A 22 year-old man is due to return to court on September 25 after he was charged with murdering his father, the second alleged patricide in St. Vincent and the Grenadines in less than a week.
Venol Delpesche, who spent some time at the Mental Health Rehabilitation Centre before being charged, appeared in court on Monday after allegedly telling the police that on July 2 he had killed his father.
He appeared before the Serious Offences Court charged with murdering Osley Venol Delpesche, a 57-year-old carpenter.
Police said that Delpesche had walked into the Central Police Station on the night of the murder to inform them of what he had done and a police party visited the scene where the body of the elder Delpesche was discovered in his bedroom with multiple chop wounds to his head and body.
The district medical officer pronounced him dead at the scene.
Delpesche was not required to plead to the indictable charge, and the police are appealing to anyone with additional information that could assist their investigations. (CMC)
