THE appointment of Director of the Strategic Services Agency (SSA) Arthur Barrington by the previous administration has been revoked.
The Office of the Attorney General issued a brief media release stating that President Christine Kangaloo acting on the advice of Cabinet revoked the appointment which came into effect on Friday.
Barrington replaced Ambassador Anthony Phillips-Spencer in March. Phillips-Spencer had joined the elite intelligence unit last year following the dismissal of Major Roger Best in May, 2024.
Phillips-Spencer, the Trinidad and Tobago Ambassador to the US since 2016 returned to Trinidad to review and audit all SSA personnel, equipment and processes after Best was suspended.
He has since returned to the US and Barrington had taken up his portfolio.
Barrington’s appointment which came into effect on April 1, was announced by former prime minister Stuart Young.
