JUST under $2 million will be presented to six national governing bodies (NGBs) for sport by government.
The presentation took place on Thursday at the National Aquatic Centre in Couva.
Minister of Sport and Community Development Shamfa Cudjoe presented cheques to cover administrative and other competition-related expenses, the Sports Company of Trinidad & Tobago Ltd stated in a release earlier this week.
The Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago is responsible for the disbursement of funding directly to the 15 NGBs under its purview.
The NGBs were represented by administrators as well as athletes who will both account for the results and impact on elite, youth and development programming in their respective sport.
The NGBs getting cheques included:

TT Football Association ($845,816.26) – Participation at Concacaf Nation’s League in Trinidad and Tobago and The Bahamas

TT Amateur Boxing Association ($612,096.88) – Participation at Golden Belt Series in Guadalajara, Mexico and Marrakesh, Morrocco; Participation at IBA Women’s World Boxing Championship in New Delhi, India

TT Cycling Federation ($207,314.42) – Participation at UCI Track Nations Cup in Cairo, Egypt

TT Cricket Board ($195,272.97) – Preparation for CWI Regional Four-Day Championships; Participation at CG United Super 50; Audit Fees

TT Sailing Association ($118,649.30) – Participation at Orange Bowl International Youth Regatta in Florida, USA
