Some Hardware Stores Can Open Today, Tomorrow

HARDWARE stores in areas affected by recent flooding will be allowed to open today (Monday) and Tuesday only.

Their opening hours will be from 8am to 3pm.

This was confirmed in a release from the Ministry of Health today.

It stated, “In response to the recent flooding which occurred in various parts of the country due to inclement weather, and the consequent damage to property, hardware stores in specific areas will be allowed to operate on a temporary basis.”

As a result, pursuant to Regulation 3(10)(ao) of the Emergency Powers (No. 2) Regulations, 2021, the Minister of Health hereby authorises hardware stores in the following municipalities ONLY to operate between 8am and 3pm on Monday 7, June and Tuesday 8, June, 2021:

  • Siparia
  • Point Fortin
  • Sangre Grande
  • Tunapuna/ Piarco
  • San Juan/Laventille

Members of the public and hardware store operators are advised to comply strictly with the public health guidelines and other legal requirements of the Public Health [2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV)] (No. 16) Regulations, 2021.

The release stated, “Additionally, shoppers are also asked to limit the time spent in these hardware stores by restricting their purchases to those essential items that are required to repair damage due to flooding.”
