She was speaking during the Crime Watch programme on Monday evening, she said, “The Commissioner of Police has given our Attorney General and other members of the National Security Council a recommendation that the SoE be extended.”
Persad-Bissessar said, “The motion to do so has now been placed on the Order Paper by the Parliament for debate on Friday this week at 1.30pm. We will go to the Parliament with a motion to approve the extension.”
She said she was satisfied with the results of the anti-crime measures during the SoE noting that for the year so far there have been 307 murders compared to 537 for the same period last year.
