Captain: Father Martin Sirju

VICAR General, Father Martin Sirju of the Archdiocese of Port of Spain has been appointed as Chaplain of His Holiness by His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, announces the Archdiocese of Port of Spain.
The Archdiocese, in a release on Tuesday, announced Sirju’s appointment, stating Father Sirju had been conferred upon him the title of Monsignor.
“The appointment was conveyed through the Apostolic Nunciature by way of a Nomination Decree from the Secretariat of State of the Holy See, recognising Fr Sirju’s faithful service and pastoral dedication within the Archdiocese,” stated The Archdiocese.
The title of Chaplain of His Holiness is an ecclesiastical honour granted to priests in recognition of their service to the church. Bestowed by the Pope, priests who receive the appointment were given the title Monsignor.
The Archdiocese, in their statement, conveyed the congratulations of His Grace, Archbishop Charles Jason Godron.
They stated, “His Grace, Archbishop Charles Jason Gordon, together with the clergy and faithful, extends heartfelt congratulation to Monsignor Martin Sirju and assures him of continued prayers as he serves the Church.”
Monsignor Sirju served at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Independence Square, Port of Spain and used his position to speak out for the needy in the capital city.
