DRIVERS are being alerted that only one lane northbound and southbound will be used for vehicular traffic along the Solomon Hochoy Highway from Claxton Bay to Freeport from April 27.
A statement from the Ministry of Works and Transport on Tuesday stated that it will be doing works on the cable barriers along the highway’s median.
The traffic disruption is expected to last two weeks and will extend along the northbound and southbound lanes of the Solomon Hochoy Highway, from the Freeport Flyover’s 21.3 km mark to the Claxton Bay Flyover’s 32.5 km mark.
Motorists are advised to proceed with caution and observe all directional signs and barriers, comply with instructions from police officers on-site, to facilitate a safe and orderly flow of traffic, drive at a reduced speed on approaching the work zone and be aware of heavy equipment entering and exiting along the highway.
At least one lane of traffic will remain open to motorists along the Solomon Hochoy Highway at all times, the ministry stated.
The ministry has apologised for the inconvenience caused.
Several persons have taken to social media to express their disappointment with many asking for the works to be conducted at night to ease traffic during the day.
