DEPUTY Political Leader of the People’s National Movement (PNM) Rohan Sinanan has resigned from the party’s position with effect from Thursday.
He is the third member of the PNM leadership to tender a resignation from their party positions on Wednesday following Dr Keith Rowley and Stuart Young.
In a letter addressed to the General Secretary of the PNM, Sinanan described his time in the position as a tremendous honour and was thankful for the opportunity to serve.
Sinanan stated, “This decision comes after thoughtful reflection, as I continue to balance my responsibilities and focus on other areas of service.”
He also stated, “In accordance with the principles of the Westminster system of government, and having been appointed Deputy Political Leader by Dr Keith Rowley, it is only proper that upon his resignation as Political Leader, I too tender my resignation. This decision reflects both a respect for the natural course of political succession and the responsibilities that come with such an appointment.”

Sinanan reaffirmed his commitment to the party adding that he will continue to support the PNM and also thanked Dr Rowley for having confidence in him as a deputy political leader.
When the PNM conceded defeat at 10 pm on Monday night, political leader Dr Keith Rowley was flanked by former chairman Stuart Young and Sinanan.
