THE Judiciary of Trinidad and Tobago says contrary to what has been reported there will be no road closures or traffic restrictions in Port of Spain for the 2025 Commemoration of the Opening of the 2025-2026 Law Term.

Responding to an article titled “Law term opens Sept 16” published online in the Trinidad and Tobago Guardian Newspaper on September 3, the Judiciary is clarifying information reported in the article in relation to the events of the day and corresponding traffic regulations.

The Guardian reported that due to the ceremonial procession of judges and other members of the legal fraternity, temporary road closures and traffic restrictions in the surrounding areas are enforced.

In a media statement on Thursday, the Judiciary stated, “This report is inaccurate. The Judiciary wishes to clarify that the Commemoration of the Opening of the 2025–2026 Law Term has been scaled down.

“The event will return to the Hall of Justice in Port of Spain on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. On this occasion, there will be no Service of Divine Worship and no Parade. The only activity will be the formal Court Sitting.”

The Judiciary said as a result of the scaled-down ceremony, there would be no road closures or traffic restrictions in the capital city.
