PRIME Minister Dr Keith Rowley will travel to Georgetown, Guyana on Tuesday to participate in several meetings of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
This was stated in a release by the Office of the Prime Minister on Tuesday.
It revealed that Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister Stuart Young SC will act as prime minister until Dr Rowley’s return.
Dr Rowley will join regional Heads of Government for the second CARICOM-India Summit and engagement with the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi.
The summit will focus on strengthening cooperation in agriculture and food security, health and pharmaceuticals, and science and innovation among other areas.
The release stated that while in Guyana, Dr Rowley in his capacity as Chairman of the CARICOM Prime Ministerial Sub Committee on Cricket will also chair a meeting of the committee.
“It added, “Later this week Prime Minister Rowley, who is the Lead Head with responsibility for Crime and Security, will participate in CARICOM’s second regional symposium on violence as a public health issue.”
In April 2023 Trinidad and Tobago hosted the first regional crime symposium which was aimed at promoting dialogue and regional action for violence reduction and crime prevention.
The delegation which will accompany the Prime Minister includes the Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs Dr Amery Browne, Attorney General Reginald Armour SC and Minister in the Ministry of Legal Affairs Renuka Sagramsingh-Sooklal.
