Dr Rowley gave an address at the event held in La Horquetta and before he spoke, he sang.
Accompanied by drumming, the Prime Minister sang out, “We gonna dance like David dance, we gonna dance, we gonna dance like David dance, we gonna sing, we gonna sing, we gonna sing like Solomon sang,”
When the drumming paused, he said, “I ent finish yet” and continued on with, “Somebody touch me, somebody touch me, somebody touch my soul, while I was praying, praying to my Jesus somebody touch my soul.”
The event was held under the Prime Minister’s patronage and the People’s National Movement (PNM) and attended to by several Government ministers decked in African wear as well as La Horquetta’s Member of Parliament Foster Cummings also a Spiritual Baptist.
Cummings also belted out in song on the platform.
In his speech, Dr Rowley reminded members of the Spiritual Baptist faith of their struggles and their strength and pledged continued support.
Spiritual Baptist Liberation Day will be celebrated officially on Wednesday with a public holiday.
And a clip of him singing was even carried on the People’s National Movement Facebook page on Monday evening.
The video was captioned: “We just can’t get enough of Dr Rowley at today’s wonderful and warm public celebration of Spiritual Baptist Liberation Day at Phase 2, La Horquetta.
“Kudos to the organising committee for a memorable event!”
