PRIME Minister Dr Keith Rowley meets with President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo at the Office of the President at Jubilee House in Accra on Friday.
Dr Rowley was accompanied by his wife Sharon and Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs Dr Amery Browne.
A release from the Office of the Prime Minister on Friday stated that discussions focused on a number of issues of mutual interest to the people of Trinidad and Tobago and Ghana, including the imminent finalisation of a gas deal.
It stated, “Both leaders expressed a desire to harmonise efforts between CARICOM and the Africa Union with respect to the growing calls for reparations for the injustices committed against Africans and people of African descent, through transatlantic enslavement. Prime Minister Rowley emphasised the need for the completion of the negotiations of the Bilateral Air Services Agreement between the two nations as Ghana serves as a gateway to West Africa for Trinidad and Tobago.”
Also at the meeting were Advisor to the Prime Minister on Agriculture, Dr John Alleyne and Member of the National Committee on Reparations Trinidad and Tobago Taharqa Obika.
After the courtesy call Dr Rowley joined the President of the Republic of Ghana and His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene at the commissioning ceremony for the Prempeh I International Airport in Kumasi.
