The Prime Minister just returned from a trip to Barbados where he attended the Roundtable Discussion on De-Risking and Correspondent Banking.

Dr Rowley said issues discussed there will also be raised during his trip to Washington that should last for the entire week, acknowledging that Energy Minister Stuart Young also made two trips to the American capital to discuss issues on energy.

“Next week will be a very important continuation of those discussions that Minister Young would have had twice during this month,” he said.

He added that on Friday, a meeting was scheduled with Proman, the biggest producer of methanol in Trinidad and Tobago, and progress has been made with Ghana in relation to oil and gas arrangements.

When further questioned by the media about the trip, he responded that it was planned from Trinidad for quite some time and he will be there to discuss issues with the Americans as well as issues with Trinidad and Tobago representatives there and a main topic of discussion would be the energy sector.

“We all have to mind our business,” Dr Rowley said.

He said Prime Minister of Barbados Mia Mottley also indicated that she will also be travelling to Washington during the course of next week to discuss matter relating to Barbados.

And he also confirmed that he will be travelling to Guyana to attend a meeting with focus on agricultural development.

Not describing it as a “state visit,” Dr Rowley said he was in constant communication with Guyana’s President Irfaan Ali and was invited to attend the meeting which he agreed to.
