PRIME Minister Dr Keith Rowley takes responsibility for the chaos which occurred on Wednesday with the walk-in Covid-19 vaccination drive.
He admitted, “Wednesday was a bad day.”
Speaking at his media briefing on Saturday Dr Rowley said there was a glitch in the communication system between those being vaccinated and those administering the vaccine.
Dr Rowley told the nation, “As head of the Government I take responsibility for how the government goes about its business and this is part of the Government’s business and I take responsibility for that.”
He admitted that Government tried to do too much with too little.
Dr Rowley said, “We are in no position to carry out mass vaccination. And therefore that experiment of trying to do too much with too little could only have failed and it has failed and we acknowledge that and I as Prime Minister, unreservedly apologise to those who sought to work within that programme and did in fact experience what was the bad day on Wednesday.”
He added that the fault was solely at the governmental level.
“Of all the things we tried to do, this was one that did not work,” Dr Rowley said.
Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh also had apologised for the drama on Wednesday.
