THE riverine alert issued on Monday has been cancelled.
The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) in a public notice stated that the alert ended at 9 am on Tuesday.
The area description was Southern Trinidad – communities surrounding the South Oropouche River and its tributaries.
Parts of Western Tobago- Communities along the Crooks and Bacolet Rivers were also being monitored.
The TTMS stated, “The South Oropouche River, Trinidad and the Crooks and Bacolet Rivers, Tobago are all now contained within their banks as the expected overnight rainfall did not materialise.”
On Monday morning, in a Facebook post, Tobago House of Assembly (THA) Chief Secretary Farley Augustine posted that water has subsided in and around Scarborough but monitoring continued of the Crooks River and the Friendsfield River.
The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) had relocated their trucks to the Shaw Park Cultural Complex in accordance with disaster response plan for the Scarborough area.
He also posted that debris was being cleaned up to ensure that river courses remain clear.
