TRINIDAD and Tobago sprinter Jereem Richards placed eighth on Wednesday during the men’s 200-metre final at the Olympics in Tokyo.
Richards who crossed the finish line in 20.39 seconds was beaten by Rasheed Dwyer in 7th by a speed of point 18 seconds.
Richards yesterday took third place in the men’s 200m semi-final clocking 20.10 seconds in his heat.
Taking the gold in the men’s 200m was Canada’s Andre De Grasse clocking 19.62 seconds.
Getting bronze and silver were United States athletes Kenneth Bednarek in 19.68 and Noah Lyles in 19.64 seconds respectively.
T&T will still have some representation at the podium as De Grasse has a Trinidadian mother and Barbadian father.
He also had the fastest reaction time of 0.135 seconds in the race.
