Residents Taken from Seniors’ Home in Tobago

RESIDENTS at a seniors’ home in Tobago have been relocated after it was discovered they were living under adverse conditions.

The Division of Health, Wellness and Social Protection issued a release on Tuesday stating it collaborated with the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) to relocate the residents.

“Breaches to the Private Hospital Act and evidence of adverse conditions were discovered which necessitated urgent action,” the Division stated.

Residents were immediately medically examined and relocated on Tuesday and further inquiries are being made.

Family members have been informed and the Division stated that it will continue to be in contact to provide the necessary updates, therapeutic counselling, medical and social support to both family members and residents.

The Division said, “This matter is considered as one of great urgency and importance, and the Division remains committed to providing the necessary intervention and support to those affected.”
