WITH the road network collapsing in many parts of Trinidad and Tobago, public buses will not be working in some areas.

The Public Service Transport Corporation (PTSC) issued a bulletin on Monday that due to the adverse weather and road conditions there would be service disruption out of their depots.

The following routes are affected:

  • San Fernado – Erin (running up to La Brea, Siparia);
  • Chaguanas- Mamoral and Rio Claro services (running to Sharp Road Junction);
  • Sangre Grande – Guayaguayare service; and
  • Point Fortin to Port-of-Spain and return.

The Corporation stated that updates will continue to be provided.

“The PTSC is also on standby to assist the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) as part of the national emergency response if required,” PTSC stated.

The Ministry of Works and Transport has issued a list of current impassable roads.

In Tobago, the Tobago Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) is advising motorists to exercise caution at Cocaton Junction, Runnemede as the depression in the roadway worsened.

The Windward Main Road between Kingsbay Delaford and Speyside is also open to one-way traffic only.

TEMA stated on Sunday that the area was muddy and landslides could reoccur and motorists should also exercise caution on that roadway.
