THE property tax will be implemented this year.
This was announced by Finance Minister Colm Imbert on Monday in Parliament.
He said, “Barring unforeseen circumstances, the implementation of property tax is expected to commence in calendar 2022.”
Imbert was responding to a question from the Opposition during the questions for oral answer segment.
When asked what month would the tax be implemented, he responded “before the 31st of December, 2022.”
He was asked if the property tax when implemented by December 2022 will include residential and commercial properties.
Imbert responded that as part of reformed process, regional corporations will be accountable for the residential property tax, once the relevant legislation was approved by Parliament.
