RECEIVING a promotion in the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) is not a reward, but a responsibility.
This was the message delivered on Friday by Commissioner of Police (CoP) Allister Guevarro during a promotion ceremony, titled ‘Climbing Higher, Serving Stronger’, held at the Police Administration Building, Port of Spain.
The ceremony was held to celebrate the promotion of nine police officers, stated a press release from the TTPS.
Guevarro praised the officers for their unwavering resolve and discipline in carrying out their duties.
Addressing the newly promoted officers, the CoP said, “Promotion in the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service is not a reward, but responsibility. It is not a pat on the back, but a call to stand taller, speak clearer and lead with a sharper purpose. You now carry the expectations of those you command, the scrutiny of those you serve and the legacy of those who came before you.”
“This ceremony is a statement, that merit still matters, that patience, professionalism and principled conduct are not forgotten. You are here because you earned your promotion, through the long road of service and not through shortcuts,” he added.
Guevarro stated these promotions symbolised the “evolving and modernising and investing in the future of the organisation, by the entrusting officers with the responsibility to lead.”
Joining Guevarro in addressing the officers was Deputy Commissioner of Police ‘Administration’ Natasha George, Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Social and Welfare Association, President, ASP Gideon Dickson, and recently promoted Senior Superintendent of Police, Curtis Simmons.
The nine newly promoted officers were:
- Senior Superintendent of Police, Curtis Simmons
