THE investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Allanlane Ramkissoon at NiQuan Energy Trinidad Limited is a welcomed one by the Energy Chamber.
The chamber said on Wednesday that the news of the incident was deeply saddening.
The family of Ramkissoon told local media that they have not received any news on the circumstances of the incident leading to his death and fear that there will be a cover-up.
“It stated in a press release, “The Energy Chamber welcomes the news that the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries has set up a team to investigate this incident. We urge a detailed, expeditious investigation and timely sharing of its findings. The safety of every employee remains a critical priority for the industry, and we hope that the outcome of the investigation will be used to enhance safety policies and practices to avoid such tragedies in the future.”
The Energy Chamber extended condolences to the family, friends and co-workers of Ramkissoon who died on Father’s Day from burn injuries.
Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley on Tuesday said in Parliament an investigation has been launched and it was yet to be decided how much information can be shared publicly as NiQuan was a private entity.
