PRESIDENT Paula-Mae Weekes and her mother received their second doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine which completed their immunisation process.
A release from the Office of the President on Monday stated that Weekes got the jab promptly at 8am at the Grand Stand, Queen’s Park Savannah that day.
Weekes, who is in her 60’s along with her mother Phyllis in her 90’s received their first doses at the Diego Martin Health Centre on April 6.
She was ecstatic and relieved to have completed the shot. In addition, she has urged everyone to take the vaccine as soon as it becomes available.
The president stated “Those of us of a certain age know all too well what a critical part vaccine have played in the survival of humankind. Without vaccines against such dreadful and deadly diseases as small pox, polio, tetanus, diphtheria; we would not all be here and certainly not hale and healthy well into our eighties and nineties. I urge all my fellow citizens to take the vaccine. Protect yourself, protect your loved ones. Protect us all.”
