PRESIDENT Christine Kangaloo has been conferred with the nation’s highest award – the Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago (ORTT).
A release from the Office of the President stated that the ceremony took place on Wednesday.
It stated, “The O RT T, this country’s highest National Award, was presented to Her Excellency by the Honourable the Chief Justice Mr Justice Ivor Archie ORTT.
“As the Chief Justice explained during the ceremony, the President of the Republic receives this award by convention and by virtue of being the Chancellor of the Distinguished Society of Trinidad and Tobago, the Order to which all National Award recipients belong.
“Witnessing the presentation was President Kangaloo’s husband His Excellency Kerwyn Garcia and the Honourable Dr Keith Christopher Rowley, Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.”
