Preliminary Results: UNC- 26, PNM -13, TPP- 2

THE preliminary results of the 2025 general elections show that the United National Congress (UNC) won 26 seats in the 41-seat House of Representatives. There are recounts taking place in three constituencies.

The Election and Boundaries Commission (EBC) stated on Tuesday that the People’s National Movement (PNM) got 13 and the Tobago People’s Party (TPP) won the two seats on the sister-isle.

The EBC stated, “The preliminary tabulation and verification of results from the Parliamentary Elections held on Monday, April 28, 2025, have been completed.

“With a total registered electorate of 1,153,850 across 41 electoral districts in Trinidad and Tobago, voter turnout was recorded at approximately 54 %.”

The UNC got the popular vote with 334,874, followed by the PNM who mustered 220,160. There were 617,712 people voting.

“Based on the preliminary count, the United National Congress (UNC) has emerged as the leading party in the parliamentary elections, securing 26 of the 41 constituencies. The People’s National Movement secured 13, and the Tobago People’s Party secured 2.

The UNC has formally requested general recounts, inclusive of poll cards, in the following constituencies:
1. Arouca/Lopinot
2. Malabar/Mausica
3. San Fernando East
All three recounts commenced at 3 pm on Tuesday.

These preliminary results are provisional and remain subject to final validation, pending the conclusion of the requested recounts, the release stated.
