The release stated, “The National Day of Prayer and Reflection will bring together citizens of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, of all faiths and backgrounds, to unite and to seek guidance and strength during this challenging time, as well as to reflect on where we are as a nation and the way forward.”
The release noted that there was precedent for cancelling the Independence Day Parade in 2020 and 2021 during the Covid-19 pandemic.

In addition, there is also the cancellation of state-sponsored fireworks display in keeping with security priorities.
Permits will be allowed for the sale and use of “Silent” Fireworks for private displays only.
The policy aims to limit noise disturbances, particularly for vulnerable persons, pets and their owners while also supporting the peace and stability necessary during the SoE.
