Police Kill 3 Bandits

CUNUPIA – POLICE are being lauded for their prompt action following a dramatic supermarket robbery in Cunupia on Tuesday night, where three suspects were shot and killed.

The incident occurred around 9 pm when five armed men stormed Da Hua Supermarket on Ragoonanan Road, robbing customers and employees.

The entire episode was captured on the store’s CCTV cameras, showing the bandits fleeing with stolen goods.

Police were alerted and the Central Division Task Force quickly responded. Officers spotted a speeding silver Toyota wagon, suspected to be the getaway vehicle, and initiated a pursuit. During the chase, the suspects reportedly opened fire on the police, prompting officers to return fire.

The high-speed pursuit ended when the Toyota wagon crashed into a ditch.

As the suspects attempted to escape on foot, another exchange of gunfire occurred. Three suspects were hit and later pronounced dead at the Chaguanas District Health Facility.

A Glock pistol was recovered at the scene.

Two additional suspects managed to flee during the chaos. However, one was apprehended yesterday in St Joseph. Authorities suspect the fugitives may have sustained injuries.

The identities of the deceased are yet to be confirmed as police continue to work with relatives. The swift police response has been praised by the community, highlighting the ongoing efforts to ensure public safety.
