CENTRAL Division police officers have received a Phantom Three Drone to assist in its policing strategies.
The drone was donated by the Chaguanas Chamber of Industry and Commerce (CCIC) at a brief ceremony at the Freeport Police Station on Monday, a press release from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service stated.
The presentation was made by CCIC president Richie Sookhai.
Snr Supt Curt Simon during the ceremony said that officers of Central Division were very appreciative of the gesture made.
Simon stated, “The handover represented the close working affiliations which exist between the Central Division Police and the community and a continuous desire to make the community a safer place.”
Simon said the drone “would strengthen the intelligence and evidence collection tools used by the highly skilled and motivated officers in the division.”
He said that the drone will facilitate intelligence-led capabilities in general crime detection and reduction and detection initiatives.
Sookhai expressed his “eagerness to work alongside the Central Division Police to assist in making the Division a safer place.”
