TWO firearms and a quantity of ammunition were discovered under a coconut tree by police officers from the Central Division on Thursday.
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) reported that the items were found on Saturday during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Caroni district between 9pm and 11pm.
Officers proceeded to Caroni South Bank Road, Caroni, where they conducted a search of a bushy area under a coconut tree.
The search resulted in officers finding one crocus bag containing a shotgun along with 31 twelve-gauge cartridges and a Glock pistol with eight rounds of ammunition. The exercise was supervised by Snr Supt Simon and Supt Pierre and included officers of the Central Division Task Force. Investigations are ongoing.
