TWO men attempting to rob a man of his chainsaw were detained by his neighbours and handed over to police.
Residents of Salazar Trace, Point Fortin, came to the assistance of their neighbour over the weekend, after he raised an alarm that he had been robbed, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) stated in a media release on Tuesday.
According to police reports, the drama unfolded at 3.10 am on Saturday when the victim allegedly saw two men take a chainsaw from under his house.
He called out to his neighbours for assistance and several of them gave chase when the suspects ran off into some nearby bushes.
The residents subsequently found the two men and handed them over to officers of the Point Fortin Police Station.
The suspects, both 24, of Fyzabad, were arrested in connection with the report of larceny.
Also, a Moruga man appeared before a Princes Town Magistrate last week, charged with Possession of Firearm and Possession of Ammunition.
Zackarie Sharpe aka ‘Smallie’, of Rock River, was granted bail with surety in the sum of $200,000 by Magistrate Singh-Phillip, on June 11.
He is to reappear in court on July 7, 2025.
