Point Fortin Desal Plant to Go Down

THE Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) announces a temporarily shut down the Point Fortin Desalination Plant to facilitate mechanical repairs.

A release stated that plant operator Seven Seas Water (SSW) has scheduled a shutdown from 6 a.m. on Thursday to 2 a.m. on Friday.

As a result, customers in several communities in Point Fortin and La Brea are expected to experience a disruption in their water supply during this period.

The affected areas include Point Fortin proper, parts of Techier, Vance River, Parrylands, Cochrane, Mahaica, Lot 10, Savannah, Harriman Park, Clifton Hill, Reservoir Hill, Merrimac, Vessigny, TGU and La Brea (up to the Pitch Lake).

WASA stated, “Following the completion of these works, it may take up to twenty-four (24) hours for the supply to normalize to some affected areas.”

The Authority also assured customers that a limited truck-borne water supply will be made available upon request during the shutdown period.

Requests can be made through WASA’s Customer Portal at www.wasa.gov.tt or by contacting the Customer Call Centre toll-free at 800-4420/26, the release stated.

WASA apologize for the inconvenience and thank customers for their patience and understanding.
