THE National Youth League of the People’s National Movement (PNM) is pleased with the newly-appointed ministers following the death of former Energy Minister Franklin Khan.
In a release on Tuesday, public relations officer of the league Shawn Williams congratulated the new Minister of Youth Development and National Service Foster Cummings, new Minister of National Security Fitzgerald Hinds and the new Minister of Energy and Energy Industries Stuart Young.
Williams said Hinds did tremendous groundwork in the building of the new Ministry of Youth Development & National Service.
“We are certain that Minister Hinds’ past professional and political experience will bear fruit in his new portfolio,” Williams said.
He stated that Cummings who is also the party’s general secretary, has been a long serving member of the PNM and he continues to serve with an elevated sense of duty.
“A leader with a passion, Minister Cummings is a people’s person and has a penchant for effectively servicing his constituents and by extension the country.
“He has already advanced youth development through his vision to improve the use of ICT throughout the country, particularly within rural communities. He is eager about providing skills-training for young people and about promoting public spaces for youth engagement and education,” Williams said.
About Young, he stated that the minister who holds two portfolios “continues to champion what is best for Trinidad and Tobago at local, regional and international levels.”
