DISREGARD any attempts by the Opposition United National Congress (UNC) to cause confusion and dismay in Trinidad and Tobago.
The People’s National Movement’s National Youth League in a press release on Monday urged all young citizens to condemn statements made by the UNC National Youth Arm concerning school violence and Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley.
On Tuesday, the UNC National Youth Arm, Chairman Kaveesh Siewdal said, “Rowley’s violent behaviour has been normalised so much, that even the children of our nation… is indulging in this type of horrific acts.”
The PNM’s League’s chairman Dr Jeremy Innis said, “The People’s National Movement’s National Youth League condemns to the highest order these dangerously erroneous and misleading insinuations of Kaveesh, who decided to unmask his derangements, vitriol and hate for the Honourable Prime Minister, marked by unfortunate racial undertones.”
The League also condemned any attempts to bring into dispute the character and the performance of the Minister of National Security and other Cabinet members and reminded citizens of the Ministry of Education’s release in dealing with the issue of school violence.
Not a good example
Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar was not setting a good example for her party, Dr Innis said.
He said, “This lack of leadership on the path of Mrs Kamla Persad-Bissessar has trickled down to her party’s youth, whose language and misconduct has raced down a bottomless abyss… Kaveesh’s parlour talk and false claims is an extension of the classless and disorganised state of the UNC, headed in unprofessionalism and contempt that is rejected by the majority of citizens, as revealed in Kamla Persad-Bissessar’s repeated failed bids at re-election.”
He said, “What we are seeing today is a stunning reflection of the nasty and belligerent style of politics portrayed by the UNC.”
Innis said that Persad-Bissessar has rejected her responsibilities as a parliamentarian as well as her oath to the people of this country and is determined to not support the government in any matter even on serious national issues.
“If chaos and lawlessness were a person, they would have looked like the UNC,” he said.
