A STALWART of the People’s National Movement (PNM) Amoy Mohammed has passed away.
The PNM National Women’s League issued a statement on Wednesday following her passing mentioning her valuable contributions to party and country.
In 1981, Mohammed was elected parliamentary representative for Princes Town. She also served as the Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Culture and Community Development under the George Chambers’ administration.
Her early involvement in working with various community-based organisations such as the Local Board of Social Welfare and The Advisory Council Home for the Aged paved a pathway to her becoming a successful politician, the league said.
The release stated, “Ms Mohammed was quite passionate about serving her constituents and the populace at large.”
During her term in office, she also advocated heavily for the provision of affordable housing for the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago a basic need which she felt should be available to those who wanted access to it.
“We of the National Women’s League of the PNM, extend our heartfelt condolences to her loved ones. We pray that her soul rests in perfect peace and rises in glory,” the League stated.
