PRIME Minister Dr Keith Rowley will host a press conference at the Diplomatic centre in St Ann’s at 2.30pm on Saturday.
It comes after he spoke about reopening the economy in light other decreasing Covid-19 figures.
At a People’s National Movement (PNM) public meeting on Tuesday, Dr Rowley said, “I see no reason now, not to open the country completely.
“So within the next few days, I will meet with our health team and we will take decisions commiserate with the circumstances in Trinidad and Tobago and compare it to what is happening elsewhere.”
Since the announcement, members of the public and business community have welcomed the initiative but it is expected that today they will be given a detailed insight into the Government’s approach on reopening the country.
On Wednesday, Principle Medical Officer of Institutions Dr Maryam Abdool-Richards stated there has been a significant lower number of ICU level patients in the Accident and Emergency Departments (A&E).
She said, “Over the last three weeks, we have had zero ICU patients being admitted into the A&E Departments.”
The total Covid-19 deaths as of yesterday in Trinidad and Tobago was at 3,729 while 50.6% of the population is fully vaccinated.
