FOUR main districts are the driving force behind the continued spread of Covid-19 and Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley is strongly urging residents in those areas to get vaccinated.

Speaking at the commissioning  of the Chatham Government Primary School on Monday, on the topic of vaccination hesitancy Dr Rowley asked, “What stupidness is going on in this country?”

He said the reason he wanted to be present for the commissioning of the school in Chatham was because Chatham was regarded as a rural community and out of the four main Covid-19 districts, three were deemed rural.

They are Victoria, Caroni, St George East and now Tobago were cause for concern, he said.

He said, “Rural communities need to pay attention because you may find that given the nature of the configuration of the country and its facilities, if you come down with Covid in any significant way, the kind of healthcare that is required in terms of infrastructure, hospitals  and their beds, doctors and nurses and staff at these hospitals, may not be as available to you in the rural district.”

The Prime Minister also encouraged parents to allow their children between the ages of 12-18 to become vaccinated as the rollout of the Pfizer vaccine starts on Wednesday at 14 sites in Trinidad and one in Tobago.
