IF Trinidad and Tobago gets Pfizer BioNTech Covid-19 vaccines it will be used to vaccinate secondary school children.
This was revealed by Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley at a press conference at the Diplomatic Centre in St Ann’s on Saturday.
The World Health Organization has approved the Pfizer vaccine for children 12 years and older.
Dr Keith Rowley said that the Government hoped to receive Pfizer vaccines from the United States in August and they would be use inoculate secondary school children as school is set to open for in-person classes in September.
Schools in T&T have been closed since March 2020 after the first case of the Covid-19 vaccine was recorded.
At the same presser, Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh said all 109 vaccination sites will offer vaccines to persons over 18 who are not pregnant or immunocompromised.
Deyalsingh also announced three mass vaccination sites at NAPA, Penal Powergen Station and the Couva Point Lisas Chamber.
He said 18% of T&T’s population have received one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine and 11% of the population have received both doses.
