THE Progressive Empowerment Party (PEP) opened the first of its “satellite” regional offices in the constituency of Couva South on Saturday.

The office space itself, located at Light Pole #710, Southern Main Road, California, was previously occupied by current United National Congress (UNC) MP Rudranath Indarsingh as well as former MP Kelvin Ramnath.

During the launch of the office, Precious Cruickshank was announced as head of the party’s women’s arm, and former head of Trio TT David Welch was named as youth arm leader.

The evening’s proceedings were brought to a close after a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a presentation from the party’s political leader Phillip Edward Alexander.

The party’s deputy political leaders are Limma Mcleod Wilkinson and Sateesh Ramsaran.

Alexander told AZP News that the establishment of that office was a big and the first step after the PEP was reignited.

He joked, “Everyone who used that particular office space won the election so we are hoping to be lucky.”

Alexander said the intention was to branch out in other areas starting in Central where people can walk in to obtain information.

The political leader said in his preparation for the local and eventually general election, he has been in talks with many persons from different sectors and walks of life including former police commissioner Gary Griffith.

Alexander said he and Griffith were friends since college and there will be times when they will walk the same path.

Griffith has publicly spoken about his personal involvement in politics.

PEP also intends to launch its own version of a weekly political meeting similar to that of the United National Congress (UNC) Monday night virtual report.
