AN On-the-Job (OJT) trainee working at an Opposition Member of Parliament’s office was robbed at gunpoint on Saturday.

A statement by Opposition Member of Parliament for Couva South, Rudranath Indarsingh stated that the trainee was travelling in a “PH” car to Price Plaza when she was robbed by a gunman posing as passenger.

She and another lady were ordered to hand over their valuables as the vehicle approached Endeavour Chaguanas.

Indarsingh said in her case, only material possessions were lost but many others were not so fortunate and blamed the Government for not doing enough to clam down on the risk that “PH” drivers posed.

“Countless women have fallen victim to attacks from “PH” drivers, losing their lives. It is regrettable that we must forecast in the New Year 2021, the more things change, is the more they remain the same under this administration. In our small operation, our team members are close with each other, and we take this time to express a sigh of relief that the outcome of this situation was not graver,” Indarsingh said.

He called for immediate solutions in the fight against crime from Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley and Minister of National Security, Stuart Young.
