THE Immigration Division is not responsible for checking digital Covid-19 vaccine records.
This according to Minister of National Security Fitzgerald Hinds in answer to an Urgent Question by Caroni East MP Rishad Seecheran in the House of Representatives on Friday.
Seecheran asked Hinds whether the Immigration Division has the equipment to read the digital Covid-19 vaccine records presented by international travellers upon arrival in Trinidad and Tobago.
Hinds said, “It was only the Port Health Officers under the auspices of the Ministry of Health has the responsibility to check vaccination cards in accordance with the Public Health Regulations.
“The Immigration Division is not responsible for checking digital Covid-19 vaccine records.”
However, Seecheran asked whether officials at the Piarco International Airport have devices to read the QR Codes.
Hinds indicated that this question would be better directed to the Minister of Health.
