NEXT week, government will be launching a new online system in which persons can apply for a certified copy of their vehicle.
They will no longer be required to physically go into a licensing office to either apply or collect their certified copy announced Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Eli Zakour on Thursday although that option will remain.
Speaking at a post Cabinet meeting at the Diplomatic Centre, Zakour said, “Applicants of the online system will have two choices, collecting at TTConnect locations throughout the country or delivery to their home or office.”

Delivery to TTConnect locations will cost $130.77 with a breakdown $100 for the certified copy, fee to TTPost – $27 and a bank and convenience fee of $3.77, the minister dissected.
Delivery to home or office will cost $158.99 with a breakdown of $100 for the certified copy, $55 for TTPost fee and $3.99 for bank and convenience fee.
Zakour said delivery time should be three working days for Trinidad and four working days for Tobago.

“This will go online next week and a press release will come out in a few days,” he said.
And later this month, the ministry is going to launch its online traffic payment system which would allow persons to pay their fixed penalty tickets online.
Zakour said it can be done via scanning the QR code on the fixed penalty ticket to be taken to the portal or visiting the website.
Currently, persons paying penalty tickets have to make payments at a TTPost location.
A bank fee of $2.75 will be charged as well as .8% value of the ticket.

PTSC to be re-opened in Chaguanas
And Zakour said from Monday, the Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC) transit depot will be re-open in Chaguanas as part of ongoing efforts to improve operational efficiency.
“At present, the facility operates as a transit hub which places a number of limitations on PTSC’s ability to provide consistent and responsive service to the people of the Chaguanas community and the surrounding areas,” he said.
Buses were not stationed on site neither were mechanical personnel.

Zakour said, “The re-opening of the Chaguanas transit depot as a fully operational depot will address these challenges. Buses will now be stationed on site supported by a dedicated maintenance team enabling quicker turnaround for repairs and better overall fleet management.”
He said currently PTSC’s fleet consisted of 100 aging buses with 79 confirmed routes and there was intention to order more.
