14 drownings between May and September
Separately, Minister of Defence Wayne Sturge reported a spike in drownings between May and September 2025, with 14 deaths recorded.
Responding to another question from Roberts-Radgman, Sturge said:

Sturge said the cluster of incidents was unusual,
He said, “We have not had such a spike either before or since the period identified in the question and there is, therefore, I am instructed, no need for any change to the existing signage and arrangements.”
