Oil Spills at Cocoyea, Santa Flora

HERITAGE Petroleum Company Limited has responded to two separate incidents within its operations on Wednesday at Agapito Trace, Santa Flora, and along the right of way of the Heritage Trunk Pipelines, Inverene Road in Cocoyea.

On Wednesday, the company issued a statement which stated that both instances, involved minor seepage from nearby facilities, however, Heritage has activated its Emergency/Oil Spill Response Protocols.

“This included the immediately suspending pumping operations, plugging and clamping associated pipelines, where applicable, as cleanup operations and containment were expeditiously commenced and were ongoing,” Heritage added.

The company stated, “Heritage personnel are in contact with impacted persons in the area of both incidents and are working diligently to ensure their safety and well-being and minimize impacts to them.

“Air quality tests continue to be conducted at both sites and the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries and all regulatory bodies have been notified.”
