THE National Transformation Alliance (NTA) has unveiled its strategy to tackle illegal immigration in Trinidad and Tobago, including a three-month moratorium to allow undocumented individuals to regularise their status.
In a video shared on the party’s official Facebook page on Friday, the NTA stated that the initiative would target an estimated 100,000 undocumented persons currently residing in the country.
According to the party, those who can demonstrate ties to Trinidad and Tobago or contribute to national development would be eligible for work permits under the plan.

The party claims this measure would help integrate undocumented individuals into the legal workforce, requiring them to pay taxes and potentially contributing up to $2 billion annually to the economy.
The NTA also linked the move to national security, saying it would strengthen the fight against human trafficking and reduce the likelihood of exploitation by ensuring more workers are legally protected.
The video further stated that individuals who choose not to come forward during the moratorium period would face deportation, which the party said would be “strictly enforced.”
The NTA also proposed the formation of a new Border Protection Unit to prevent further breaches and to safeguard the country’s resources and citizens.
The party is urging citizens to support its platform in the upcoming general election, promising ‘real transformation’ aimed at making Trinidad and Tobago safe again.
