RESIDENTS in parts of Point Fortin and La Brea, who usually receive water through the Point Fortin Desalination Plant will experience an interruption in pipe borne supply between 7 am and 7 pm on Wednesday.
In a release on Tuesday, the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) stated that this has become necessary for the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) to carry out electrical maintenance on the transmission lines at the Distribution Station.
The areas affected include:
Point Fortin;
Parts of Techier;
Vance River;
Merrimac;
Vessigny;
TGU;
La Brea (up to the Pitch Lake);
Parrylands;
Cochrane;
Mahaica;
Lot 10;
Cochrane;
Savannah;
Harriman Park;
Clifton Hill; and
Reservoir Hill.
Customers are advised that it may take up to 24 hours for the supply to normalise to some affected areas after the Plant returns to full operation.
WASA has advised that a limited truck-borne water service will be available with priority given to special homes, health care and government institutions.
