No Water in Central, SW Trinidad: Electrical Issues at Desalcott

EMERGENCY repairs are again being conducted at the Point Lisas Desalination Plant which will result in water shortages.
The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) informed customers on Monday that the plant owned and operated by the Desalination Company of Trinidad and Tobago (Desalcott) was presently experiencing electrical issues.

Emergency repairs are expected to be completed by 10.30 am on Tuesday, WASA said in a media release.
The release stated, “During this period, water delivery from Desalcott to WASA will be reduced to 30 million gallons per day, down from the usual 40 million gallons per day. The Desalcott-owned and operated desalination plant, supplies water to the Point Lisas Industrial Estate and augments the supply to several areas in Central and South West Trinidad.”

As a result, the normal daily or scheduled supply to the following areas may be affected:
Caroni, Warrenville, Cunupia, Chaguanas, Caparo, Chase Village, Couva, Point Lisas, California, Claxton Bay, Plaisance Park, Pointe a Pierre, City of San Fernando, Vistabella, Marabella, Gasparillo, South West Union Hall, Pleasantville, Palmiste, Phillipine, Duncan Village, Esperance, Gulf View, Bel Air, La Romain, South Oropouche, Otaheite, Rousillac, Aripero, parts of La Brea, Avocat, Fyzabad, parts of Siparia including De Gannes Village and Quarry Village, San Francique, Debe, Syne Village, Lowkie Trace, Sunrees Road, Mora Dam Road.
