THE temporary access to the Priority Bus Route (PBR) granted to the public early Wednesday has ended.
A public notice issued at 6.18 am from the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation stated that access was granted for all motor vehicles.
“Motorists are also reminded that the Eastern Main Road remains available as an alternative route,” it stated.
Transport Minister Eli Zakour told AZP News that a utility pole fell at Macoya market just before 6 am, totally blocking off the highway and causing a traffic buildup.
In a subsequent release, the ministry stated that the temporary access to the PBR granted earlier had ended.
The release stated, “Due to unforeseen circumstances encountered this morning, motorists currently on the PBR will be given an opportunity to exit the route. As such, normal PBR operations will resume at 8 am sharp.”
