No More Demerit Points for Minor Traffic Offences

PERSONS with minor traffic violations will longer face demerit points.

A release from the Ministry of Works and Transport on Monday made the revised changes to the schedule effective March 1.

The following is a list of the traffic offences and violations in which there will be no more demerit points:

  • No identification lights for the illumination of identification marks on the vehicle at night;
  • Failure to produce a vehicle for inspection;
  • Driving a vehicle without a valid inspection sticker and certificate Vehicle with defective fittings;
  • A vehicle without two headlamps and park lights;
  • A vehicle without taillights and  without reflecting mirror; and
  • The use of vehicles with no windshield  wiper or defective wiper

However, parking in a public stand designated for taxis will cost drivers three demerit points.

Members of the public are reminded that the fixed penalties payable for the above-mentioned traffic violations remain unchanged as part of the Fixed Penalty Traffic Ticketing System.
