There will be no sale of fireworks at Fireone Fireworks on Independence Day as happened in the past.
The company issued a media release on Tuesday stating that it was supporting the government’s decision to have a National Day of Prayer and Reflection instead of a grand fireworks display.
“We stand in solidarity with the government and people of Trinidad and Tobago during this State of Emergency and we recognise the importance of uniting as a nation to seek guidance, strength and renewal in this challenging time,” FireOne stated.
As a result, all its stores and satellite locations will remain closed on August 31.
Usually on celebratory occasions, FireOne Fireworks would open late, even on public holidays, at various locations throughout the country to allow customers to purchase their last minute fireworks supplies.
FireOne is also in support of the government’s “silent” fireworks initiative for private displays.
The company said it was a way to limit noise disturbance for vulnerable individuals, the elderly and pets while maintaining an opportunity for families to celebrate safely and respectfully.
FireOne said that it offers “silent” fireworks for sale and that they meet the highest international safety standards.
Fireworks should be purchased only from licensed dealers to ensure quality and safety, and should be discharged responsibly and at designated times to respect neighbours and the wider communities.
The company stated, “FireOne Fireworks remains committed to serving the people of Trinidad and Tobago and to ensuring that celebrations even in difficult times can be carried out with dignity, respect and unity.”
